Rodney Cloyd’s life changed on October 21, 2017… Sweetest Day! Headed to dinner with the love of his life, Robin, they were hit head on in a car crash. In November of 2018, Rodney became a right below knee amputee from complications from the injuries to his ankle-foot.
Rodney chose to come to Action Prosthetics from his podiatrist’s, surgeon’s AND a friend’s referrals! The friend, Greg, is also a patient of ours. We are thrilled that Rodney had so many people telling him to check us out!
Karl Burk (Our Prosthetist) worked with Rodney to make him a custom prosthesis that would fit his needs and busy life. Rodney has a pin system socket with a College Park Soleus foot. Karl even made a custom lamination on Rodney’s socket with Iron Man on it!
Since choosing Action Prosthetics, Rodney says his experiences with us has been good and that our follow up is good as well. His wife, Robin said, “I’m so glad we went with Action Prosthetics!”
When asked what the best thing is about his prosthesis, Rodney joked that it doesn’t hurt when he hits his shin! But he then added that he is thrilled that he can WALK again, drive his truck, boat and golf cart, climb ladders, and use his prosthetic leg as a tool to turn off a light switch! Rodney’s positive attitude and great sense of humor have certainly helped him live his life happily with limb loss.
Rodney is a remarkably busy person who hasn’t left limb loss slow him down! He, his wife and stepchildren love to go camping (and ride around in his golf cart). He enjoys tinkering on his camper, truck and boat. Rodney also loves to mow grass with a push mower!
When asked if he would recommend Action Prosthetics, Rodney said, “Yes, of course!”
We are thrilled to work with Rodney and his family; we’re so proud of how he is living such a positive life with limb loss!
