Dana Layne lost her right leg above the knee amputee from a blood clot on September 22,2016. She made the decision to switch to Action Prosthetics in 2018 after her former prosthetist kept telling her she had to live with pain, and she just felt like she wasn’t walking to the best of her ability. She happened to attend an A.C.T.I.O.N. Amputee group picnic and after talking to our patients who attended, she decided it was time to try a new prosthetic company.
Karl (…Burk, our Prosthetist) recently made Dana a brand-new prosthetic leg! It consists of a Proteor USA Quattro knee and Freedom Sierra prosthetic foot. Her prosthesis also has a custom lamination on the socket made with lace! Dana says the best thing about her prosthesis is, “(she) can do anything she wants to do – she’s never restricted!”
Retired from working at Piqua Harley Davidson, Dana lives a remarkably busy life! She loves to cook, bake, ride her bike and care for her granddaughters, Ady who is nine and Caylee who is eleven. She helps take care of her granddaughters every day with school transportation and daily routines.
Dana says her experience with Action Prosthetics has been wonderful. She says the staff and Karl are great; she feels cared about now! She says she feels like she has found a family in Action Prosthetics!
When asked if Dana would recommend Action Prosthetics, she said, “I’d be crazy not too!!! When I see another person with limb loss, I always tell them about Action Prosthetics and the A.C.T.I.O.N. Amputee Group!”
