Joe Dankworth became a left below-knee amputee on July 17, 2012 from vascular disease complications.  During this time, he moved to the Troy area and a family member recommended Action Prosthetics.  Joe really likes that our office is close-by.  Joe says losing his leg has only made him tougher and we couldn’t agree more!

Joe’s prosthetic leg is made with a carbon fiber socket which utilizes an energy-storing, high-activity foot.  Joe says he was so happy that he took right off walking when first trying out his prosthetic leg.  He only had a few physical therapy appointments because he did so well walking on his new leg!  He loves that he does not have to sit around in a wheelchair all day any more.

After getting his prosthetic leg, Joe was able to go back to work (delivering newspapers then) and go back to doing daily life chores like yard work and cutting the grass.  He also is proud to say he can climb a ladder like a pro!  He currently works with his brother cutting down used wooden skids.  He takes the wood from skids and cuts them down for other builds.  He says it’s nothing for him climb on a stack of skids 20-high!  At home, Joe loves to cook and bake as well.

Joe says his experiences with Action Prosthetics has been, “a great ride!”  He says he would tell anyone who loses a limb to, first, not be sad, and to then get a hold of Action Prosthetics right away to build their prosthesis.  Joe would definitely recommend Action Prosthetics and said, “It’s not just a place to go to get a prosthetic leg, it’s more like visiting family. The staff and I are one big family!”

We feel the same way Joe…
