One of our faithful support group members, Pat Kramer, shared about a recent procedure she had done for knee pain. Pat has been an above knee amputee for most of her life and her sound knee had begun to give her pain that she couldn’t tolerate at times. So, she traveled a few months ago to St. Louis to have Stem Cell Therapy performed. Pat explained how the procedure was performed and that, happily, her knee pain has almost gone away! Our group was fascinated to hear Pat’s story and had great follow-up questions!

This is what the procedure entails: Stem Cells are extracted from one’s own body tissue. The human adult has several reservoirs of adult stem cells, including the bone marrow and the area around the adipose or fat tissue. The harvested tissue is then refined, leaving a concentrated source of cells. The cells are then injected in to the injured area.

The whole process can usually be done within a few hours.

A.C.T.I.O.N. thanks Pat for sharing an experience that keeps our group informed!
