Action Prosthetics invites you to celebrate Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month from April 1-30, 2024! More than 5.6 million Americans are living with limb loss and limb difference, based on a recently published study: 5.6 Million++ Americans are Living with Limb Loss and Limb Difference: New Study Published – Amputee Coalition (amputee-coalition.org). Limb loss and limb difference affects people of all backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, genders, races, ages, and other demographics. During April, we want to demonstrate how our community thrives and how you can participate.

Today, we are highlighting our amazing patient, Jim Heatherly (pictured with our Prosthetist, Karl Burk).   He has been a left below knee amputee since December/2011.  He lost his leg from a hereditary clotting disorder called Factor Five Leiden.  When asked what advice he would give to a new amputee, he said:

“It’s not that bad.  You can still have a life (with an amputation)!  Rely on other amputees and your prosthetist!”

We are so blessed to work with Jim and serve his limb loss needs!
