Rick Hunt became a left below-knee amputee from diabetic ulcers that just wouldn’t heal in August of 2014. After becoming very discouraged with the fit of his first prosthesis, he was referred to Action Prosthetics by his doctor.
Rick is retired from working 40 years at the Body Company/Workhorse in Union City. He has farmed his entire life. Rick’s son-in-law is now in charge of the farm operations and Rick has dubbed himself The Helper. He says even after losing his leg, he still loves raising cattle, driving the tractors, cutting/baling hay, mowing the yards and running all the errands needed for daily life on the farm.
Rick has a pin suspension system housed in a carbon fiber socket which utilizes an energy-storing College Park Soleus foot. He says his experiences at Action Prosthetics have been great! Rick says the best thing about the prosthesis Karl Burk (Prosthetist) built is that he can, “walk well again and do what I want to do!”
Rick also stays very busy with his 3 grandkids. He loves watching his grandkids show cattle for 4-H. He also loves to go to tractor pulls and Sprint car races. Rick is an avid Nascar, Sprint car, and farm machinery toy collector!
When asked if Rick would recommend Action Prosthetics, he said, “Yes, Karl (Burk, Prosthetist) is a wonderful man. He had me walking without pain a week after getting my new prosthetic leg from him!”
