Action Prosthetics invites you to celebrate Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month from April 1-30, 2024! More than 5.6 million Americans are living with limb loss and limb difference, based on a recently published study: 5.6 Million++ Americans are Living with Limb Loss and Limb Difference: New Study Published – Amputee Coalition (amputee-coalition.org). Limb loss and limb difference affects people of all backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, genders, races, ages, and other demographics. During April, we want to demonstrate how our community thrives and how you can participate.
Today, we are highlighting our amazing patient, Mike Sanders (pictured with our Prosthetist, Karl Burk). He has been a right above knee amputee since 1969. Mike lost his leg in the Vietnam War. When asked what advice he would give to a new amputee, Mike said:
“Hang on! Keep at it! Push yourself! Listen to your medical team. And, jokingly, don’t lose your leg!”
We are so blessed to work with Mike and serve his limb loss needs! We also can never thank him enough for bravely serving our country!
