Action Prosthetics invites you to celebrate Limb Loss and Limb Difference Awareness Month from April 1-30, 2024! More than 5.6 million Americans are living with limb loss and limb difference, based on a recently published study: 5.6 Million++ Americans are Living with Limb Loss and Limb Difference: New Study Published – Amputee Coalition (amputee-coalition.org). Limb loss and limb difference affects people of all backgrounds, socioeconomic statuses, genders, races, ages, and other demographics. During April, we want to demonstrate how our community thrives and how you can participate.
Today, we are highlighting our amazing patient, Darlene Wise (pictured with our Intern, Mary Burk). She had been a left below knee amputee since 2019 but became an above knee amputee after a fall last September. When asked what advice she would give to a new amputee, she said:
“Don’t give up! Push yourself!”
